Hello; with looking into the kernel and doing some tests; I've managed to have the usb_hcd_poll_rh_status (rh_timer_func) read around 1.3 - 1.5% with the A/C plugged and unplugged; with using the bootparam = nolapic_timer and setting in my kernel config = preemption model low-latency desktop cutting down the Wakeups-from-idle per second : 441.3 with everything up and running i.g. firefox, streaming music. The problem is in dmesg I see: Clockevents: could not switch to one-shot mode:<6>Clockevents: could not switch to one-shot mode: lapic is not functional could not switch to high resolution mode on CPU1 could not switch to high resolution mode on CPU0 obviously from the bootparam nolapic_timer; Is there something I'm missing in the kernel .config or a boot param to have the lapic timer on; with the same results as when its off? another question is when using powertop I see <KERNEL IPI> : Rescheduling interrupts at around 31% is this caused from lapic being disabled? any info would be appreciated regards; --Justin P.
