Hi Michael, Its been a while since I tried to improve my battery life but I remember that I could get my power usage to between 23-24 watts which should give you 2+ hrs with a healthy battery (56 w). This is still quite short of what OS X can get but its bearable (if there's a hope for some improvement). I usually got a better battery life using the radeonhd driver but I have a macbook pro 2,2 where fglrx does not support power states (there's a patched version of radeontool that lets you reduce power usage but I still think radeonhd gets better power). Do you have tickless kernel? I even remember some people were getting as low as 21-22 watts and I had hoped this would improve with new kernels and more power aware software but so far I haven't been able to match this. I'm going to try playing with 2.6.24 this weekend and will let you know if I can get something better. Has anyone had any luck getting stable suspend-to-ram with 2.6.24 and ati drivers? cheers, Sheer On Feb 1, 2008 12:22 PM, Michael <mig...@gm...> wrote: > Hi, > did some testing with removing modules > > > lsmod before (normal) > > Module Size Used by > wlan_scan_sta 10176 1 > ath_rate_sample 10816 1 > fglrx 707104 17 > agpgart 26952 1 fglrx > usbhid 18020 0 > hid 27840 1 usbhid > ath_pci 79776 0 > wlan 169796 4 wlan_scan_sta,ath_rate_sample,ath_pci > ath_hal 187792 3 ath_rate_sample,ath_pci > sky2 39172 0 > video 15696 0 > output 2880 1 video > > = 400 wakeups, 26W > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > lsmod after: > > Module Size Used by > fglrx 707104 17 > agpgart 26952 1 fglrx > usbhid 18020 0 > hid 27840 1 usbhid > video 15696 0 > output 2880 1 video > > = 150 Wakeups, 25.2W > > Cn Avg residency P-states (frequencies) > C0 (cpu running) ( 4.4%) 2.17 Ghz 0.2% > C1 0.0ms ( 0.0%) 2.00 Ghz 0.0% > C2 2.7ms ( 6.2%) 1.84 Ghz 0.0% > C3 3.9ms (89.3%) 1000 Mhz 99.8% > > > Wakeups-from-idle per second : 153.0 interval: 10.0s > Power usage (ACPI estimate): 25.2W (0.6 hours) > > Top causes for wakeups: > 25.6% ( 31.0) <interrupt> : ehci_hcd:usb1, uhci_hcd:usb2 > 13.1% ( 15.9) X : do_setitimer (it_real_fn) > 12.1% ( 14.6) gpomme : schedule_timeout (process_timeout) > 9.9% ( 12.0) <kernel core> : usb_hcd_poll_rh_status (rh_timer_func) > 9.7% ( 11.7) <interrupt> : extra timer interrupt > 8.5% ( 10.3) amarokapp : schedule_timeout (process_timeout) > > > Battery life is still very low! > > Am Donnerstag, 31.
