Hey Guys, Hope you are all doing well, I am making a list of all the best Macbook Pro - Linux Install Howto's and would be GREATLY APPRECIATIVE to any links you guys can provide. I am relatively new to linux on macbook pro so I don't know very many. Thanks in advance! Anthony |

I'd be interested to know what essential MacBook Pro features are not a part of the current unpatched release kernel. I'm still running one of the relatively early MBP patch sets (2.6.16 or 17) at work, and I'd like to upgrade to a newer setup. If at all possible, I would like to run an unpatched kernel when I do decide to upgrade. ~Bradley On 1/15/07, Anthony Rocco <ar...@be...> wrote: > > Hey Guys, > > Hope you are all doing well, I am making a list of all the best Macbook > Pro - Linux Install Howto's and would be GREATLY APPRECIATIVE to any > links you guys can provide. Currently I'm running a 2.6.18.4 (with mactel patches), in my 1st generation Macbook Pro suspend2ram nor suspend to disk work. (I'm also using ATI fgrlx driver + madwifi). Isn't this supposed to work by now? Or am I missing something ? Best regards, -- Miguel Sousa Filipe |

It looks like no patches are really required on a mini with 2.6.20-rc, at least that's my experience (I don't boot via EFI and also didn't test audio in, yet). However, if you need the additional features that are provided by some of the patches, you still have to apply them. That yould be: coretemp.patch applesmc.patch ir.patch I think that the following patches are obsolete with 2.6.20-rc: piix.ich7.patch (switch to libata and disable the whole IDE stuff) sigmatel_audio.patch (at least on my mini) usb-storage-zerowait.patch (doesn't look mactel specific, what it is for?) I don't know about the other patches. Maybe some of them are already in the vanilla kernel. Regards, Tino |
