Has anyone boot any sort of linux on this yet? What are the results? It's been out for over a month now and there has been very little communication about it. (I've looked through messageboards, google, here). I was checking out the hardware specs in the store (About this Mac...More info). and I can see there it shares a lot of hardware with the standard MacBooks (video, isight, bus). I would like to purchase one and run linux on it (as I do with all my other machines). My concnerns are: 1.) Booting - it doesn't, by default, come with a dvdrom - but it does allow Wireless boots - is this using a standard protocol that we can netboot linux off? 2.) The new touch pad - The touchpad driver will obviously not take advantage of multi-fingers yet, but does it even work on the newer 2+ touch next generation Air touchpad? Working would be sufficient for me for now to purchase - I would like to see if I can play with multi-touch as well in the driver. There are some hints someone has Ubuntu running: http://www.flickr.com/photos/isriya/2265405622/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/isriya/2264613881/ but not much more than that. I'm going to try to get in touch with this guy. James |

Did you send the pommed patch to julian BLACHE? The thing that I find most interesting is battery run time, i.e. minimal consumption reported by powertop (with minimum brightness and everything off) and with brightness to the full level... And of course your personal experience when you do normal work :) Thanks, Soeren |

Thanks for the news. So if I get it right, the only things still missing native support are: - wireless (any chance of getting an open source BCM4328 driver sometime?); - multi-touch trackpad; What about the iSight? Did you have any chance to try it? I'd really like to know about using the USB Ethernet connector too. Ciao, and thanks for reporting! gimli a dit: > Hi, > > updated status on the MacBookAir1,1 : > > pommed 1.16 adds proper support for the MacbOkkAir1,1 > kernel hid patch updated with the missing usb ids > > happy penguin > > Edgar (gimli) Hucek > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft > Defy all challenges. The topic on #bcm-users (on Freenode) says "No bcm4328 support so far, we are working on that, please donate!", so I guess there is hope (but I agree, people should still totally complain to Broadcom). Well, yes there is a driver (on the way soon), but it still requires proprietary firmware. mike dentifrice wrote: > cyberdork33 said: >> | - wireless (any chance of getting an open source BCM4328 driver >> | sometime?); >> >> Nope.
