Just for the records:
After googleing a bit, I found this:

I reversed this patch and now I can enable WOL in ethtool, but the
Ethernet port is still switched off after suspend to RAM.
I also tried this with MacOS X, and the port is alive during suspend to
RAM.
It looks like the sky2 driver needs some work f=FCr WOL support.
