I have tried a number of times to install Perl using
MacPerl Web Installer on a Macintosh G5 with Mac OS X
10.4.4. It attenpts to download, but comes up with the
message VISData "seems to be corrupted," and nothing is
installed. What should I do?
Thank you,

I've not tried that in awhile, and I don't know if it still works; I recommend
downloading the Full Installer, not the Web Installer.
That said: I want to make sure you know that MacPerl is for *Classic* Mac OS
(System 7 through Mac OS 9), and *not* for Mac OS X. It can run in the
"Classic" environment on Mac OS X, but there's very little reason anyone
would need to use it for Mac OS X. Mac OS X comes with perl, and Mac OS X
10.4 comes with Mac::Carbon (which includes most of the modules that were
written specifically for MacPerl, ported to Mac OS X).
