That's the version I have on a PPC G4 Powerbook running 10.5.8. Because I'm afraid the current version 4.* is not compatible with 10.5.8. I guess that you can still download it from Apple's Developer site, for free, if you hold a basic (free) account with Apple's Developer. Hello everyone, The title of my message says it all. My situation is the following: I am trying to install MacGPG. I have downloaded and unwrapped the file. I have tried to configure the file. The following error has resulted: configure: error: in `/Users/owner1/gnupg-1.4.11': configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH See `config.log' for more details. Hence, I am looking for an "acceptable C compiler." Any suggestions? Best, Noah |

Thanks a lot!!! Which MacOSX are you running? Which GPG Keychain Access are you using? From what you wrote "...but also my private keys, which doesn't seem to work", I can only *guess* that you are using GPG Keychain Access version 0.7.0 that dates back to 2005. There is a built-in security process that prevents to export secret keys through the application itself, but allows to do it via Terminal. If you are using an Intel Mac, please have a look at <http://www.gpgtools.org/>, read about the different projects, navigate through the different pages of the site, choose what you need, and then install what you need. You can also chose to run the GPGTools installer, which enables you to install all the available projects. Read before, and install afterward, after you have made up your mind. Have a fine week end. Hi everybody. My problem is as follows: GPG keychain access no longer creates new pairs of keys. It does lead me through the process of creating keys just as it used to, but in the end no new keys will be created. I wanted to re-install it but therefore I need to export not only all the public keys i've stored (which works fine) but also my private keys, which doesn't seem to work. Any Ideas? Thanks a lot!!! |

Hi, > So you are running "Tiger". I tried to find a reliable download source > for BBEdit 8.*, that is compatible with Tiger, but couldn't find one. You can download BBEdit 8.7.2 here. http://www.barebones.com/support/bbedit/updates.html They distribute a full applications, but you will require a serial code which seems unavailable now. Text Wrangler 3.1 can be downloaded here. This should be a better option if you do not have a BBEdit 8.x serial code. http://www.barebones.com/support/textwrangler/updates.html Hope this helps. Where did you copy that public key from? If the key can be found on a keyserver, have you tried to download it? Do you know the key ID? The key ID should be something like eight hexadecimal characters preceded or not by 0x (zero x). Bbedit nor Textwrangler appear to be only compatible with OS X > 10.5 and above. Hello again. I'm using OS X 10.4.11, macGPG 1.4.9. Charly, my main problem was that I wasn't putting the filepath - it's obvious in retrospect but there you go, good tip! So now I try: gpg --import /Users/abesorge/Desktop/joesmith.asc gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found. I saved it as .asc and used a basic program called ConvertNewlines which gives me the option of converting to Windows or Unix linebreaks. I chose unix and got the above results. Perhaps the linebreak conversion didn't work? Bbedit nor Textwrangler appear to be only compatible with OS X 10.5 and above. GPGtools installer says I can't use this package with my version of OSx. The link to Keychain Access is 404d on the macGPG website, so I don't exactly know where I could be looking for it otherwise. David - the majority of what you wrote is beyond me, but thanks for trying anyways. Difficult to learn this terminal stuff from the ground up... but I did use the env command and the PATH is as follows: PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin I have no idea what this means. Any more light you can shed on these difficulties would be great, and in the meantime I'm going to try to figure out if the key has Unix line breaks or not. Cheers, and thanks for all your help folks. When you start up Terminal, per default the working directory is your home directory. "Desktop" is located one level below, so just type cd Desktop followed by gpg --import joesmith.gpg and you should be done. > Additionally, I haven't been able to even find my own keypairs that > I've generated - where are they stored by default? No problems > exporting, just importing. gpg keys are usually stored in a directory named .gnupg, located in your home directory. The period in front indicates that it is invisible by most programs. However, you won't see single keys in there, they are kept in one file called "keyring". Does "gpg --list-keys" show your keys? To move, import/export I usually do the following: gpg --export NAME > pub.key > gpg --export-secret-key NAME > priv.key > Then on the new machine > gpg --import pub.key > gpg --import priv.key > (then 'gpg edit-key NAME and update the trust if necessary) Are you sure the file is where you think it is, and that you are in the same directory? I.e. does 'wc -c joesmith.gpg' work? If so, gpg --import joesmith.gpg from the same directory doesn't? Keys should be somewhere in ~/.gnupg/ but I don't think you're supposed to touch those file directly, use gpg instead On Wed, Mar 9, 2011 at 9:40 AM, abe sorge <abe...@gm...> wrote: > Hi everyone. > > I have joesmith.gpg on my desktop, a public key that I copied into a text > file and changed the file extension. I seldom use the Terminal so I probably can't help there but you might try the file type .asc for a key you want to import. Cheers! Hi everyone. I have joesmith.gpg on my desktop, a public key that I copied into a text file and changed the file extension. I go to terminal and type: gpg --import joesmith.gpg gpg: can't open `joesmith.gpg': No such file or directory So, where should I put this file where gpg can find it? Additionally, I haven't been able to even find my own keypairs that I've generated - where are they stored by default? No problems exporting, just importing. Apparently, Keychain Access for OS X 10.4 is discontinued and I haven't been able to find it anywhere. That's probably the ideal solutions to my problem but perhaps there's an easy fix in terminal. Command line noob by the way - hopefully I'm missing something really easy here. Thanks for any help you might be able to offer. |

Two things have cropped up today. One may be related to the other. When I look at the GPG-Keychain, all keys including mine claim to be invalid. And when I start up Thunderbird I am reminded that gpg-agent can not be found. I was cleaning up some startup stuff today and that may be one of the problems . was trying to remove something causing a warning at startup .. but that was related to a "chmod" script ... and I wanted to remove Parallels ... so I could have moved/deleted anything in that regard. anyone point me back on track? thanks |

You will also find explanations. There's a dedicated macgpg2-users mailing list. <http://sourceforge.net/projects/macgpg2/develop>. <http://sourceforge.net/news/?group_id=248469> <http://sourceforge.net/projects/macgpg2/files/macgpg2/2.0.16/MacGPG2-2.0.16.zip> If you have further questions, please post them to macgpg2-users. Ken, You could use MacPorts and install it. ~] port list gpg-agent gpg-agent @2.0.16 security/gpg-agent ~] port install gpg-agent --Shawn ________________________________ From: Ken Bowen <ke...@de...> To: mac...@li... Sent: Wed, December 22, 2010 3:09:16 PM Subject: [Macgpg-users] Where to get pgp-agent? Hello, [1st time user] I installed Mac gpg 1.4.9 on Mac OS X 1.6.4 just fine. I downloaded and installed GPG Keychain Access from Git hub ok. But, when I start GPG Keychain Access, it complains: gpg-agen not found! Without gpg-agent you can't access passphrase protected keys However, I can't find any info or link on http://macgpg.sourceforge.net/ for gpg-agent. What is the recommended place to download it?
