Hi everybody First of all: Greetings to everybody on the list, specially the new ones. Not a lot of discussions lately - Macattrick seems to sleep these last months (player ratings are still on Hattrick 6.0, aren't they?). Second and main purpose of this mail: I finally have some time for the Match Viewer I promised long long long ago. The model is more or less standing and up to one third coded, as are the features I want do in Version 1: - Tracking more than one game (the current game of the logged in manager and whatever you add per Match-ID or Drag and Drop) - You can bookmark teams - so that their current (or next-on- schedule) Match will also be automatically tracked. You can import all teams of your league. Hattrick-Supporters can import their Hattrick-Team-Bookmarks too. - Notification for events during the match via Growl (for me the main reason why i want to do the Match Viewer) - Tracked Matches which are finished get a somewhat analytic view: All Events, the Team-Ratings as well as the Player-Ratings (think: Hattricks Match View and Player-Stars-View combined in one, combined with Hattrick-Organizers TeamAnalyzer-Feature: which Part of the Team is how much better/worse than the corresponding part of the opponents team. Probably to much information for one single view, probably I will divide it with Tabs or something) - And as this view could be quite practical for the why-did-i-loose- this-game-and-what-should-i-do-better-next-time-question, you can open _any_ finished match in it. So probably an archive for your and your bookmarked teams matches will be a good thing too. Now my problem: I have various ideas for the appearance of this tool, but not one of them is good or practical (the links are just made- in-20-seconds-prototypes in Interface Designer): - Two-Column-Style: On the left the tracked Matches and their current standings, on the right the texts as in HT-Live: Just Boring and no improvement over HT-Live. (www.mullzk.ch/download/htlivesketch- finder.jpg) - Mail.app-Style: On the left possible Matches, on the right (top) the tracked Matches and their last event, on the right (bottom) all events for the selected Match (www.mullzk.ch/download/htlivesketch- mail.jpg). Just Boring. The design of the windows-developper in me... - ichat-Style: on the left all possible Matches, on the right in iChat-Bubbles (don't laugh at the sketch) a bubble-list of events of all tracked matches in chronological order. (www.mullzk.ch/download/ htlivesketch-ichat.jpg). Has somewhat of a cool-ui-Potential, but gets very confusing if you track too much matches. There were various others sketches on paper (multiple Windows, Inspectors etc.), but none of them worked out. Not even worthy for a 20-second-Prototype in ID. There are too many informations to draw, and some of them are even conflicting: Possible Matches - The managers own current (or next on schedule) Match - The managers Archive of Matches (for the analytic Part of it) - Bookmarked Teams... - ... and their current (or next on schedule) Match - ... and their archive - Other currently tracked Matches Tracked Matches - All matches, the current standing, the time and their last event (think: collapsed view of HT-Live) - all events in chronological order (think: iChat-Bubbles) - all events of a match (think: expanded view of HT-Live) So my question: Has anyone a cool idea for the UI of a Macattrick Match Viewer? I'm completly stuck and would be glad for any suggestions. thx in advance greetings from switzerland mullzk |

I guess that leaves me... My name is Alex, I'm 25, I live in Montreal, Canada. I'm a hobby programmer, although I've worked as a webdesigner/ sysadmin before... My short-term goal is to make Macattrick a more well-behaved Macintosh app, from the point of view of the user... Making the things that should "just work" happen. Things like progress bars, cancel buttons, and threading (to avoid the colour wheel). or having the 'change' columns follow the skill columns when you move them around in the players list. -Alex On 13-Jun-05, at 5:07 AM, Martijn Broeders wrote: > Hmm did my mail get trough? > > Hello everyone > > My name is Martijn, 35 years old and live in Amsterdam, the > Netherlands. > > I worked for 8 years in the advertising and right now I am self > employed for 6 years. > Core business is web design, MultiMedia (cd, dvd's, animations, 3D > etc) > > I came in touch with Macattrick a year ago. Hmm did my mail get trough? Hello everyone My name is Martijn, 35 years old and live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I worked for 8 years in the advertising and right now I am self employed for 6 years. Core business is web design, MultiMedia (cd, dvd's, animations, 3D etc) I came in touch with Macattrick a year ago. Since then I help with the design (Macattrick and website) and try to think of nice new features. What I like to see: - 3D Live match report engine :-) (quicktime with moving players) - (no one did this before) - Chat with use of calendar (ical) - to find teams for friendlies matches For the next 2 months I won't have that much time for Macattrick. (my wife and I are moving to Saint Marten, Caribbean.) will bring my laptop with me.... so. Kind regards Martijn (team name: Gfive) Stefan Mueller wrote: > me next, me next... > > i live in bern, study history and computer science (with one course > where roman was the course facilitator). i have not a lot of > expericence in obj-c yet, but want to focus on projects for os x. > this summer, i want to make a match viewer. as i am not sure how > clean my code will be, and a team organizer as macattrick underlies > stricter chpp-rules than a match viewer, i am not yet sure wether i > will really integrate it with macattrick in the first release, > although integration is a goal on the long run... > > sometimes, i am online under icq# 22333755 or (somewhat less often) > under aim: mu...@ma... > > ok, that's it in the first run, looking forward to getting to know > you... > mullzk > > > > Am 12.06.2005 um 21:13 schrieb Matt Chelen: > >> Ok, I'll go next, then, I'm Matt, I've been actually devleoping (not >> learning) since December (don't be fooled, I know alot), I currently >> have two games and a 'Terminal game' (more of test to see what will >> happen) in progress for my own coding experience, I have a small team >> put together but, most people are working on little projects here and >> there so, when I get a chance, I get some people to help out. Ok, I'll go next, then, I'm Matt, I've been actually devleoping (not learning) since December (don't be fooled, I know alot), I currently have two games and a 'Terminal game' (more of test to see what will happen) in progress for my own coding experience, I have a small team put together but, most people are working on little projects here and there so, when I get a chance, I get some people to help out. Hello everybody During the last weeks, the Macattrick development team has grown in an extreme manner... Thus, I would like to welcome Mullzk, Matt, and Alex. And because most of you don't know each other (I guess) I would encourage you to introduce yourself by a mail to this list. And I would like to start here: My name is Roman, I'm 26, and I "invented" Macattrick when I was writing on my master thesis and wanted to get into the cocoa/ objective-c language. Currently, I'm a phd student at the university of bern switzerland, and, therefore, I currently don't have that much time for Macattrick. As I am kind of "the godfather of Macattrick", I would like to tell you what were the main ideas when I started developing the tool: - a tool for the daily usage. - a simple to use tool including only those features which are really useful (no kde for hattrick, even though I like kde, too). - a clear and simple design on backend. - using the latest technologies (most of the interfaces are using binding now) - building an extensive unit testing base to enable fast evolution of the software - keep the software clean of unnecessary code and features The main feature idea I have for the next version of Macattrick, is to add player groups, as for examples all trainees etc. This would enable to select a group to be considered for line up. or other calculations. Hello everybody Finally, I found time to paste your translations into Macattrick. Therefore, I would like you to have a look and tell me whether your language has been properly translated. Would be great to have a fast feedback to be able to apply any changes and then publish soon. Please check the functionality, too. Especially the line up is dependent on a consistent translation. http://macattrick.sourceforge.net/localization.zip @ Ake and Mauricio: If you find some time to translate the next week, it would be really great. Otherwise, we would release without Swedish/Spanish localization. @ everybody: I hope I will have some more time to develop Macattrick in the near future. Please give me fast feedback to encourage ;) THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION! Kind regards, Roman |

Hello everybody I still don't have the translation for spanish and swedish. I wonder whether I could get them soon. Otherwise I would suggest to publish the localized version without spanish and swedish :(. Cheers Roman Bertolami |

Hello I wonder how far the translations are. I would be cool for me to get them today or tomorrow, so I could incorporate them over the weekend and send you a test-version back. Cheers Roman |

Hello We just released Macattrick v. 0.3. This version is only available in English. But it would be great do localize it for as many languages as possible. If you have time and are interested to translate the application into your language, please give me some short feedback. Then I can plan the localization procedure. Hope on many contributions Regards, Roman |

Hi everybody I created a document containing some guidelines for the development. I thought that it is important to find kind of a common language... Please have a look at it and tell me if there are things missing or if you have any questions or if you think that there is some stuff that is really not good. http://macattrick.sourceforge.net/docs/Guidelines.pdf Kind Regards Roman |

Hello everybody Just when I was thinking about suspending (or even abandon) the=20 development of Macattrick, because at the moment I do not have enough=20 time to develop Macattrick alone, I got an email from Nicolas that he=20 was interested in contributing. Some days later I wrote to Martjin the=20= developer of Hattrick_OSX if he really wants to develop his own program=20= instead of working together on a single software. Things had completely=20= changed... Therefore I am glad to introduce you the current contributors: - Nicolas: student at the ingenieur school in computer science of=20 Limoges (France) - business model development - french translation - Martjin: multimedia and web designer in Amsterdam (Holland) - User Interface design and development - netherlands translation (?) - Ake: student of business informatics from J=F6nk=F6ping (Sweden) - swedish translation - testing - Mauricio: (Colombia) - spanish translation - Roman: phd student in computer science (pattern recognition) at the=20 university of Bern (Switzerland) - development - german translation - webpage maintainment I hope that we can work together in a convenient way and develop a well=20= designed (from the graphical and architectural viewpoint) and usefull=20 software (at the moment more than 500 downloads and over 3500 page=20 views of Macattrick have been done). I would recommend you to use this mailing list, to keep all=20 contributers synchronized and tuned, and as all messages are archived=20 at sf.net we are able to get old email if we are looking for=20 something... Kind regards Roman |
