    Kaiser Schwarcz - 2009-11-10

Hi. I use a Fedore 9 in a notebook with a Via Chrome9 HC IGP video card. My web Cam is a Ali Corp 0402:5602.
I just installed the gspca-m5062 but I can't put it to work.
In the program Camstream, when I click in "opne viewer, I can see the device "v4l2-USB2.0 camera". But once I choose it, the capture window is all black and the program craches.
In amsn when I try to configure the camera the capture windows is black again and I receive the mensage "unable to capture from the device",

What should I do? Any tips?

I have the same camera reported for the built-in camera in my Acer LCD monitor. What sensor does yours report?
I am using the driver from 2.6.32-rc5-git4, presumably you are using the CVS driver.
    ALi m5602: Probing for a po1030 sensor
    ALi m5602: Probing for a mt9m111 sensor
    ALi m5602: Probing for a s5k4aa sensor
ALi m5602: Probing for an ov9650 sensor
    ALi m5602: Sensor reported 0xffff
    ALi m5602: Probing for a s5k83a sensor
ALi m5602: Failed to find a sensor
ALi m5602: ALi m5602 webcam failed
usbcore: registered new interface driver ALi m5602
    ALi m5602: registered

I don't know how to see the sensor here. I'm newbie in linux.
    How do I do that?

    OK
The graphic system sensor is a VIA VN896, but I'm using a Vesa drivers.

    # dmesg|grep sensor
The "Probing for an ALi sensor …." above are all from dmesg.

You should be able to see a sensor reported found for the ALi m5602 in dmesg. The VN896 is most likely the VIA thermal sensor, not the camera sensor.

    Hi,
I've been in contact with Sid last year and I still need usb snoops
from using the cam in windows in order to help him further.

    Best regards,
    Erik

Are you using cvs/svn sources to build the driver? I that case, which branch?
    # dmesg|grep sensor
    ALi m5602: Probing for a po1030 sensor
    ALi m5602: Probing for a mt9m111 sensor
    ALi m5602: Probing for a s5k4aa sensor
ALi m5602: Probing for an ov9650 sensor
    ALi m5602: Probing for a s5k83a sensor
ALi m5602: Failed to find a sensor

I shall give it a try, at least it detects the sensor which the kernel driver doesn't.

I guess my sensor is not the "ASUS A6Km"

So, I try to use my webcam with camstream and received this message:

*The device experienced an error -22 (invalid argument)*
With a black windows in rhe place the video capture should be.
    Any sugestions?
