Using 3.3.4-5.fc17.i686 (with LXDE):
- create a valid desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications
- make sure that the menu entry appears in the LXDE menu (logout and login if needed)
- launch lxmed -> the .desktop file is not taken into account

See attached screenshot where "hellotheworld2.desktop" has been created in ~/.local/share/applications
