Hello guys, sorry that my first communication with the LXLE community is so boring. I tried to subscribe to the forums using this address. I confirmed my registration but couldn't log in. I assumed that I'd glitched the password so used the 'reset password' link a couple of times, but without success. I think multiple contacts from me may have led the forum to reject all my comms. If a forum admin is reading this, I'd really appreciate an opportunity to start over. Best, W. |

Hi Denis, thank you so much for your reply. That sounds good. > The another thing LXDE desktop environment. It is not supported anymore, because Lubuntu team moved to LxQT, Yes, I know. That´s the reason why I consider switching over from Lubuntu (18.04 at present) to LXLE. I already downloaded the ISO and ran it as a live system from a USB-stick. I must admit I like it a lot. So one more question if I may: If LXDE desktop environment isn´t supported any longer what does that mean for future editions of LXLE? I mean after 2023. Will LXLE continue to be available then? Perhaps using another desktop environment? Thanks again for your help. Greetings. Hi. Just a question referring to support. On https://lxle.net/about/ it says: "Always based on Ubuntu/Lubuntu LTS". I know that Ubuntu receives updates for 5 years but Lubuntu for just 3 years. What about LXLE then? How long do we get updates? Tnx. Rosika |

Dear Sir, Yesterday I tried to become a forum member using the lxle.net site. I got the confirmation email on my phone & confirmed on my phone but now I'm not sure that worked. Tried again this morning but it gave me a fatal error when I tried. Now I'm trying this way. I'm having trouble with active directory users created on the LXLE computer with realmd & sssd not keeping the LXLE menus etc. They revert back to LXDE. I perused the LXLE forum posts for an answer to no avail. Any help in this is greatly appreciated. Vance |

Dear contributors, I am happy to announce that we are ready to release preliminary results of the "Developer Perception to Microsoft's acquisition of GitHub" survey. These results can be accessed at " https://naist-se.github.io/study-of-microsofts-github-acquisition/". Again thank you for your participation and please feel free to share or discuss these results. Dear LXLE developers, I am Natnaree Asavaseri and currently undertaking a research internship at Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan. Note that we are not biased to either GitHub or Microsoft, and this is purely from an empirical research perspective. As a part of my research in the field of Software Engineering (SE), my professors and I are analyzing the impact of Microsoft's acquisition of GitHub. The main purpose of my survey is understanding how developers perceive the Microsoft's acquisition of GitHub, especially from contributors to Linux distributions and BSD families. If the survey is successful, we will publish our findings at SE academic venues (journals or conference). So please consider voicing your opinion by allowing us up to 5 minutes to complete my short survey. https://goo.gl/forms/lbIL5qsinDRQyTaK2 We would like to remind you that participation in this survey is completely voluntary and your identity is hidden for anonymity. Thank you for your time in advance. Best regards, Natnaree (cc Shade, Raula, Hideaki) Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan |

better compatibility with older hardware... the -70 err whatever number at the end of the kernel represents the number of security patches applied to that kernel... in otherwords, security feautures from current kernels are backported to it. andreas_ioanna kalogeropoulos wrote: > > Hello. > > I know that Ubuntu 16.04.2 has kernel 4.8 > > However, I installed LXLE 16.04.2 RC and kernel edition is 4.4 > > > Why is that? > > Thank you! > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most > engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot > > > _______________________________________________ > LXLE-General mailing list > LXL...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/lxle-gene |
