There are serious considerations to include LXDE in the sidux Linux
distribution . LXDE looks great out of the box, it is intuitive, easy to
configure and well-suited for low-performance hardware.
However, the Debian package of pcmanfm, which is a core part of LXDE, does
depend on gamin, while it is technically possible to link it against fam. Many
users and developers do not like the idea of being forced into gamin when
preferring fam. gamin had serious issues in the past and is still lacking some
trust. At the moment, this dependency is a showstopper for any future plans.
Would it be possible to provide a package pcmanfm-fam for Debian which depends
on fam, not gamin?
We would be happy to make LXDE even more popular.

Yes, you are right. gamin seems to run without problems nowadays. However, I
do not see a reason to enforce gamin when fam works as well. Would there be
any problem with the attached patch, having pcmanfm depend on either gamin or
