The best is not to upgrade Lubuntu, but first remove completely the older version, and subsequently install the new version. Then all is ok (apart from a lot of work, i.e. reinstalling everything).

Hi, I do recognize the problem. It seems to be due to a change in one of
the libraries, as I also see it with older versions of the panel.

Due to very little time, I don't know when I will have time to look
further into it. Constructive ideas are welcome.
