i'm using lxde on phone hardware. i'm using gnome-screensaver (in conjunction with gnome-power-manager) for blanking, locking, and power management, but its (and its dependencies') memory and cpu footprint is just... err... 'not reasonable' for such a platform (needs >>50%).
xscreensaver isn't an option because (by decision by its author) it doesn't support powermanagement features or hooks that could be used for them, and also doesn't support xembed (e.g. for a touchscreen keyboard app like matchbox-keyboard).
so from the phone/pda perspective, i guess a lxscreensaver+powermanager seems to be what's being missed most...
