Hello dear developers,

First of all thanks for your great work.

PCManFM has a menu called "Tools" and a submenu called "Search for files".
Am I right to suppose that it is not yet fully functional?
I have been using LXDE for a few years now, and already in Debian Stretch, I couldn't get a single file found with this tool, no matter how hard I tried and entries I addded and/or removed in that window.
Now it seems to be still the same problem in Debian Buster LXDE.

Are you planning to implement this feature ? Or perhaps, if it IS functioning, document it somewhere ?

With best regards.

It exist for years and works greatly, after clicking on that option you'll get a dialog which has a lot of options.
What exactly does not work for you?

    Hello Lonely Stranger,
To suport my statement, I'll append a screencast of a simplest example of what I do and what happens (or doesn't).
With many thanks for your interest.

As I thought, it is an usage problem.
It appears you just forgot to add a * after name. The search provides exact (or complete) search, otherwise (if wildcards would be always assumed) it would be impossible to find files which are named test because all contest, testament, attestat whatever will be found along the way, and that would be a hell, believe me. Just add an asterisk and all your test<whatever> files will be found.
With best regards, be safe and well!

    Hello Lonely Stranger,
Yes, actually, it's just like searching form the command line.
    I don't know what I've been thinking... :-(
I just have some revision work to do...
And I'll defintitely be safe and well - at least, for sure, with pcmanfm search function. ;-)

Thanks very much to you and all at SourceForge for your fantastic work (when I see what now goes in Debian 10 Buster compared with years ago... : "Cheers to programmers")

    Ludo
