#887 Text pasted in LXTerminal enclosed in ~0 ... ~1

This is a bug report about LXTerminal 0.2.0, as distributed with GNU/Linux Mint 18.2.

Many times when I paste text into the terminal, instead of getting my pasted text, I end up with ~0my pasted text~1. This is extremely annoying!

I found this page which says:

The issue is that your terminal is in bracketed paste mode, but doesn’t seem to support it properly. The issue was fixed in VTE, but xfce4-terminal is still using an old and unmaintained version of it.

It also suggests a workaround:

You can try temporarily turning bracketed paste mode off by using:

printf "\e[?2004l"

which works for LXTerminal as well, making me suspect that it's the same issue.
