Has anyone here looked into the possibility of generating XUL from GWT? We're considering starting up a side project at Pentaho to support our own development and would be interested in any insights you may have. Thanks, Nick |

Hello there I would greatly appreciate a small amount of your time to assist with my doctoral research at The University of Newcastle. The research concerns open source licensing and we're seeking developers working on Java projects. The research is supervised, ethics-approved, anonymous and results will be freely available. Participation will also provide a custom licensing report for your project. To learn more, please visit: http://licensing-research.newcastle.edu.au Thanks for reading this email, and I hope you'll consider participating. Best regards Ben Alex (My apologies for being off-topic; this list will not be emailed again) |

Hi Norma, I am no longer interested in Luxor because I don't want to base the whole application on a discontinued project. I could not run the demos on Windows. I have also tried on Linux, but got other problems, so I gave up. I am considering using SwixAT, which uses the Spring framework and SwixML engine, but it is still version 0.8. lux...@li... wrote: >Send luxor-xul-user mailing list submissions to > lux...@li... > >To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/luxor-xul-user >or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > lux...@li... > >You can reach the person managing the list at > lux...@li... > >When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific >than "Re: Contents of luxor-xul-user digest..." > > >Today's Topics: > > 1. (Windows XP, JRE1.5) And by the way, I don't see any recent activity in luxor's web site and downloads. Is luxor really alive? Thanks Gungor Senyurt |

Hello, Sun has posted all slide decks for this year's JavaOne developer conference online. For those interested in creating Swing Java Desktop apps using markup languages allow me to highlight the talk by Sun's Java Desktop Engineering Head Hans Muller titled "Defining Swing GUIS Declaratively: A Survey". To avoid downloading the complete slide pack (e.g. 90 megs) you can get Hans Muller's slide deck online @ http://www.swixml.org/TS-7122.pdf On Luxor Hans Muller comments: o Schema is similar to Mozilla XUL (subset) o Java, Python, or Groovy for behavior o Since 2001, most recent update February 2005 o Development continues o Extreme Web presence o Counter app showcase definitely worth a visit http://xul.sourceforge.net/counter.html - Gerald ___________________________________________________________________ Vancouver Web 2.0 Forum (Van2) - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/van2 |

Denis is no longer interested in Luxor and thus the calculator example is no longer updated or maintainted. As far as I can remember I have checked in the latest version into CVS. See http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/luxor-xul/luxor-contrib/calculator If you're interested in updating the calculator sample, you're more than welcome. Please let me know and I add you the sourceforge developer list so you can update the shell script. - Gerald |

Hi It seems to me that the shell script of the calculator example of Denis has some Windows characters in there, because it doesn't run on Linux. But after doing *dos2unix run.sh* it works. Maybe this can be updated within the distr. Just let me know if I shall send a working shell script version. Hello, Sun's Desktop Software Head - Hans Mueller - has sent in an email telling me that he will include a slide on Luxor at his upcoming JavaOne talk on tools that let you build Swing applications using markup languages. Hans Mueller is especially interested in listing projects using Luxor on the slide. If you are using Luxor, please let us know and your reference or project may end up in a JavaOne presentation! - Gerald |

Hello, In case anyone is interested in creating Java apps using Groovy and XUL I've updated the Luxor XUL Groovy example pack from using the Groovy "classic" syntax to using the new Groovy "JSR" syntax. See http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/luxor-xul/groovy/src for details. - Gerald |

Hello, i want to use luxor for a big application, and i have a lot of difficulties ... so please help me (and sorry for my poor english) !!! - I have a xul description for a tool bar with many instantiations toolBar1 = createToolBar("myToolBar"); toolBar2 = createToolBar("myToolBar"); , and I want to have a different handling for the two instances, so I can't use the XulAction because i only get the toolBarButton id and i can't know from wich tool bar. When I want explore the child of toolBar, each toolBarButton have a null name so i can't put a listener direct on the button . I have a solution, but with a luxor modification in the createButton methode of ToolBarButtonDef.java I had the following code : button.setName( getId() ); After, I can explore the childs of my ToolBar, and get the button with the ID. Is it the good solution ??? So there is a bug in Luxor ??? I have read some mails with the same problem on other tag ... I really want to know the good solution, so give me some advices Best regards Vincent Jacquis |

Hi everybody: Thanks a lot for your answers (thanks Gerald), but i have more questions, i have the next child <menubar> ... <menuitem icon=3D"OPEN" label=3D"_Open" /> ... </menubar> and all functions well, the icon appears well, but when i add the command property, like this: <menubar> ... <menuitem icon=3D"OPEN" label=3D"_Open" command=3D"open"/> ... </menubar> now the icon isn't, could you say me why?, is this a bug?, i'm using the beta 9 but i had to recompile the jaxen jar because i couldn't find the org.jaxen.XPath class, in the jaxen.jar that is in the libraries, it will be for that reason?, thanks and I hope not to be bothering too much |

Hello Dasaev Cerqueda, > where can i download > libraries proven with beta 9? Starting with Beta 9 Luxor uses Maven to manage libraries/dependencies. You can find libraries that are not included in the public Maven repository in the Luxor online Maven repository. See http://luxor-xul.sourceforge.net/nightly Note, that if you don't want to use Maven to get your libraries you can also download them manually by browsing the Maven repo. - Gerald |

well, my problem is the same than Thierry Bertschi: >Hi! >As an exercice, I wanted to implement the "business-logic" of the calculator example >shipped in Ramses package (is it supposed to work already? In any case, in my >environment, I get the GUI working, but not any calculating function). >So, I managed to bind an action to a button (by implementing a subclass of XulAction), >but then I wanted to "echo" the button value on the calculator display. >For that, I tried to get a handle on the corresponding XTextField, and was looking for >something like: >text = (XTextField)XulManager.getXulContainer(displayId) >and then, I would do a text.setText() >But I didn't find how to retrieve a Xul node from the Xul tree referenced by it's ID???? >Am I completely missing something? Is it not the correct way to do? >A part from that, XUL looks very powerful and simple (at least the GUI definition syntax). >I'd be very keen to be able to use it. >Cheers, Thierry |
