Your hunch is probably correct, but you see this is a public site
already. I do everything with lurker being monitored by GDB nowadays so
I can send you backtraces when things bonk.

Unfortunately I had lurker continue its salvaging and then restarted it,
so I can't provide the information you need. For the next time it
happens, how would you recommend I grab this information from gdb at the
point of crash?
