Sorry, could you be more specific (probably you meant the sum, ∑)?

Supposing we look at this list (BTW; lurker archive, 
http://terpstra.ca/lurker/list/lurker-users.html, looks broken):

We have "activity chart", and the sum of messages next to it.

How is activity chart calculated? For example, we have some threads 
having one message, some 4 messages, but the activity chart is the same 
for them.
