Peter, we've had some requests for an x86_64 GCOV patch. Do you know of
anyone interested in doing a patch for this architecture? Thanks, Marty

All of the gcov-kernel patches in the CVS repository contain
modifications for the x86_64 architecture, so I'm assuming that x86_64
support is already there. Unfortunately I can't do any testing for this
architectures as I don't have access to a x86_64 machine.
My suggestion would be to direct the interested party to the patches in
the CVS directory. Should a patch turn out to be broken, I can offer
basic debugging support (ltp-coverage list preferred).
Also note that I added a new gcov-kernel patch for Linux 2.6.16 which no
longer requires the default architecture modifications. This patch
should 'support' (i.e. provide the kernel configuration option on) all
architectures by default, even though I'd guess that some architectures
will need workarounds for the functionality to be available.
Hope this helps.
