The 2.6.23 gcov patch has ARM arch related files but no i386 or x86_64.
The 2.6.22 patch file does have i386 specific files.
In order to get the i386 support for 2.6.23 kernel, do I have to apply the
gcov 2.6.23 patch and then pick the i386 specific files from the gcov 2.6.22
A similar thing for getting x86_64 support into 2.6.23 kernel from the

The correct way of compiling a 2.6.23 kernel with gcov support is the
1. get http://kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/linux-2.6.23.tar.bz2
3. unpack linux-2.6.23.tar.bz2
4. apply linux-2.6.23-gcov.patch
5. create kernel configuration
This is true for all architectures except for arm, where you may want to
also apply the gcov-arm patches for the specific kernel version.
If you are still running into compile problems, please provide the exact
steps you are performing including compiler version and architecture info.
