Hello,

After successfully compiling a gcov-enabled 2.6.16 kernel in 32-bit (i686) mode and getting great results, I grabbed the CVS patches for gcov on 2.6.21.

I have applied the patches and compiled using a variety of configs (I've tried modifying the config that came with a 2.6.16 SLES10 kernel and a 'clean' config using 'make menuconfig') but I'm getting the same errors at boot up on x86_64.

A fragment of the console output:

NET: Registered protocol family 1
IP-Config: No network devices available.
Freeing unused kernel memory: 396k freed
init[1]: segfault at ffffffff807b8b20 rip ffffffffff600400 rsp 00007fff5c888478 error 7
init[1]: segfault at ffffffff807b8b20 rip ffffffffff600400 rsp 00007fff5c888478 error 7

Initially, I thought the kernel was in a loop, as the last two lines were repeating and scrolling across the screen very rapidly.

However, I now suspect the kernel is booting very slowly, because the messages are changing. I'm now seeing:

b20 rip ffffffffff600400 rsp 00007fff5c888478 error 7
b20 rip ffffffffff600400 rsp 00007fff5c888478 error 7
p 00007fff5c888478 error 7
b20 rip ffffffffff600400 rsp 00007fff5c888478 error 7

Does anyone have any clues to what I'm running into?
