Currently, the default device is hardcoded to /dev/dvd, which isn't present on all systems. Could a configure switch be added to specify an alternative default device at compile time?
Yes, we should be using /dev/sr0 by default on Linux, and find what the defaults are for other systems as well, and use macros for them.
