Usage

Launching ls16's GUI

ls16's custom GUI is necessary to perform the loading of library instruments in the sampler channels. The mechanism to launch the GUI is host-dependent, so please refer to the documentation of your host of choice.

Examples:

  • In jack-dssi-host the custom GUI is launched automatically.
  • In qtractor a generic GUI is launched when you add a new plugin or double-click its name in the mixer channel where it is installed. This generic GUI provides a Edit button that will launch the custom GUI if the plugin has it, as it is the case for ls16.

Opening ls16's menu

Click on one of the sampler strips on any place there is not a button or a slider.

Adding a library

Open ls16's menu and select the Add Library... option. This will open a file dialog that will allow you to select and load a .gig file. After adding a library there will be a new submenu in ls16's menu where we can now select any of the instruments it contains for loading in a sampler channel.

Loading an instrument in a sampler channel

Add the library that contains the instrument you want to load if you haven't before as described above.

Click on the sample channel where you want to load the instrument to open ls16's menu. Open the library's submenu and select the instrument you wish.

Changing the MIDI channel for a sampler channel

Click on the combo box to the right of the instrument name and select the MIDI channel associated to that sampler channel. If you select All the channel will operate in omni mode, reacting to MIDI messages from any channel.

Toggling a sampler channel mute status

Click its mute button.

Toggling a sampler channel solo status

Click its solo button.

Changing a sampler channel volume

Drag its volume slider to the desired position. Values go from an attenuation of -inf dB to a +10 dB boost.

Changing a sampler channel pan

Drag its pan slider to the desired position. Ctrl-click the slider if you want it to return to the center position.
