[Cross-posted to LRRD-users just in case anyone's still there. The party's at Munin-users now, come join us!] Anyway, I've uploaded Munin packages to the SourceForge file area. I would very much appreciate it if the Debian users on this list would try them out and report back on any problems. They will look to see if you've got an LRRD installation, and if so attempt to copy the data and configuration files from it, so the upgrade should be rather painless. The conversion is done in a non-destructive manner - the files will be *copied*, not moved. There will probably be no further changes to the Debian packaging before the packages will be uploaded to the official archive, and I promise you will be able to upgrade cleanly from the ones now at SF. I will probably wait for 1.0.0pre3 before uploading, because the IOstat plugin currently needs some more work, notably being more selective on which devices to graph and correcting some labeling issues. I expect these issues to be resolved and pre3 to be released early next week. I've also put the packages onto a interim APT repository at my home page for those of you who prefer using APT: deb http://users.linpro.no/tore/munin ./ deb-src http://users.linpro.no/tore/munin ./ Again, feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks, -- Tore Anderson |

Yes, the default configuration file has some un-commented examples on how to create a virtual graph from the data fields of other boxes: <http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/munin/munin/server/munin.conf.in?rev=1.1&view=auto> Unfortunately, this doesn't support wildcards for all of the nodes in a domain, you have to specify each individually. That's on the TODO list for 1.1, as I understand it. By the way, this list is supposed to be dead, the action's over at <mun...@li...>. Please resubscribe there. -- Tore Anderson |

Hello, LRRD is a good tool for easy graphics making for servers one by one and it really helps my every day sysadmin job but I'd like to go a bit further and have graphics of the whole platform I'm managing as if it was only one entity by itself: In order to make graphical comparisons of the servers [1] I'm monitoring with LRRD, I would like to know how I could create one graphic with the CPU usage of every servers on it. The same could apply for memory, filesystem usage, apache accesses, ethernet traffic, load average, etc... I'd also like to have a graph that adds the number of apache accesses per second of each server and make a whole platform graphic (web1+web2+web3+...). I've already asked Tore about that. Do you have any idea how I could do both the "all in one" and the "sum" graphs ? Regards, [1] we have ~20 servers at that time but it's constantly growing, we should have ~100 servers in 2004 -- Cyril Bouthors |

Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2373407 By: iav I see I cant correctly make config for server. Maybe, I not understand what I need to configure. Can anyone give config from working configuration? Sure, IP addresses can be jammed, or completely removed... For example, from example system, showed at http://www.linpro.no/projects/lrrd/example/ ? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. A new mailing list - mun...@li... has now been created. All the members of the old list (lrrd-users) have been added to the new list (you should get a subscription confirmation soon, if you don't have it already). Please continue all discussions on this list on the new one instead. I'll move the CVS tree this evening. The next release will be called munin. The lrrd-project will be around for a while (old releases and mailling list archives), but as soon as the first munin release is out, it will be clearly marked as deprecated. -jo :-) |

Hello people, :-) Well, I'm back in town, with net access. I've counted the votes, and the result is pretty clear. Audun will re-count to double-check when he has the opportunity, but since the results are so clear, I'd be _very_ surprised if the end result is any different. :-) Sorted by number of votes: -munin +8 -1 = 7 -lrrd +1 = 1 -trendline = 0 -lifeline +2 -2 = 0 -trendscript +1 -1 = 0 -trendgraph -1 = -1 -sysscope -1 = -1 -netscope -1 = -1 -omnigauge -1 = -1 -spoor -2 = -2 Not everybody used the negative vote - only the positive. So, LRRD is from now on officially called "Munin". An application for a project on SF has been sent. -jo :) |

Hi everyone! Weird... On this new machine (running Gentoo linux, with the most recent = client/server versions of LRRD) the .png files are nicely created every = 5 minutes, but the .html file(s) aren't! How is this fixed...? When the client is started I DO get the following error message: tail: cannot open '+2' for reading: Permission denied tail: cannot open '+2' for reading: Permission denied Dunno whether that's related to the issue...? Hi, I solved cpu graphing problem. This is quick hack. The cpu plugin should be: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ... echo 'system.cdef system,'$SCALE'1,*' ... ^ echo 'interrupt.cdef interrupt,'$SCALE'1,*' ... ^ echo 'user.cdef user,'$SCALE'1,*' ... ^ echo 'nice.cdef nice,'$SCALE'1,*' ... ^ echo 'idle.cdef idle,'$SCALE'1,*' ... ^ Added 1s after $SCALE variable. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't know whether it is correct or not but rrdtool now draws cpu usage. tia, Ganbold |

Hi, I installed latest lrrd-0.9.9r6 in FreeBSD 5.1-current system. Everything seems to be working fine except cpu plugin graphing. lrrd-graph.log says: Unable to graph /usr/local/var/lrrd/ub.mng.net/xxx.ub.mng.net-cpu-idle-c.rrd: invalid rpn expression 'asystem,,*' rrd file exists. Another bugfix release has been uploaded to SF. Notes: Because of the feature freeze that LRRD is currently in (pending the 1.0 release), only bugfixes have been done in the main programs. Also, a couple of plugins have been modified, and a few new have been added as contrib plugins. ChangeLog: * Added BSDish install-sh to make the installation work on both BSD and SysV variants (SF#840744). * Plugin linux/iostat modified. Now runs on 2.6, and now "mirrors" i/o li= ke eth* et al. (Deb#224113, Deb#223373) * Lrrd-client: Don't try to change uid/gid if not running as root. (Deb#224300) * Lrrd-graph: Only log graphing errors (=3D=3D less cron-mail). * Plugin linux/memory has been improved greatly by Mike Fedyk (Deb#223346) * Some plugins fail more gracefully when using uninstalled perl modules. * Lrrd-client-configure now prints the reason for suggesting to not use a plugin, as long as the plugins gives one. * Lrrd-client: Do a fake clean of the environment because of the taint checking. * Lrrd-client: added configuration option "ignore_file", which takes regex for files to ignore (e.g. rpmnew/save) (Deb#224265). * New plugin: Alexandre Dupouy contributed "hddtemp". * New plugin: Nicolai Langfeldt contributed "bind9". * Lrrd-server: dots supported in plugin names. * New plugin: snmp wildcard plugin for interface graphing. -jo :-)=09 |
