Project Update: 22 December 2007

I've decided to move forward with a more public approach regarding the intent of the project in the hope that it will further spur the development effort.

In a nutshell, the lptcap32 project is designed to provide a vendor-independent, standards-based software (and hardware) interface that will make traditional fuel-dispenser (gas pump) information available for independent data processing at the point of sale.

The following overarching lptcap32 project goal has been established:

1. Create a standards-compliant, vendor-independent, interface that will allow digital data transfer between existing gasoline-pump data-output mechanisms and a Linux-based PC.

Hopefully this news bit has provided additional insight into our project's objective of providing a mechanism through which "Internet enabling" the existing fuel-distribution infrastructure may finally become reality. I will be posting substantially more information over the coming days and weeks as we ramp up the project in earnest.

Thank you for taking a moment to read over our information and welcome to lptcap32.
