hi as I announced quite some time ago, I would like to package GNULpr for Debian I have downloaded the hp-release-branch, and I have built succesfully the following packages DEBS/libprinterconf-dev_0.3-2_i386.deb DEBS/lpr-ppd_0.71-2_i386.deb DEBS/libprinterconf0_0.3-2_i386.deb DEBS/pconf-detect_0.3-2_i386.deb DEBS/libsnmpkit-dev_0.7-2_i386.deb DEBS/printtool_4.03-3_i386.deb DEBS/libsnmpkit1_0.7-2_i386.deb DEBS/task-gnulpr_1.2_all.deb DEBS/libtdb-dev_1.0.2-2_i386.deb DEBS/tdbtool_1.0.2-2_i386.deb DEBS/libtdb0_1.0.2-2_i386.deb I have some problems to solve: 1) I am struggling to add "gpr" to the above, but I use Ximian Gnome, and "libgnome-dev" is broken in Ximian. 2) I would like that you change something in printtool: here is the diff --- printtool.in.oldFri Jun 29 17:40:57 2001 +++ printtool/printtool.inFri Jun 29 17:35:34 2001 @@ -138,3 +138,3 @@ # aha, we want *printfilters'* libexec! -NickM -if {[catch {set fd [open "/usr/libexec/master-filter" r]}] == 3} { +if {[catch {set fd [open "/usr/libexec/master-filter" r]}] > 0} { # we're in an FHS-compliant system (Nick Moffit knows what I am talking about) 3) there is already a "printtool" in debian, and it is almost the same program: I am talking with the mantainer I will let you know a. -- A Mennucc "È un mondo difficile. The hp-release-branch was just a fork off of the bens-dev-branch to allow us to make a stable tree for a little while while we bronght the release together. This time we are going to do it right. Once we do the release this time we are going to fold the bens-dev-branch back into the main trunk and then then fork off a stable branch that only gets critical bug fixes while the main trunk continues being the main line development and bens-dev-branch once again becomes my personal playground for my truly experimental code. > I have built succesfully the following packages > > DEBS/libprinterconf-dev_0.3-2_i386.deb DEBS/lpr-ppd_0.71-2_i386.deb > DEBS/libprinterconf0_0.3-2_i386.deb DEBS/pconf-detect_0.3-2_i386.deb > DEBS/libsnmpkit-dev_0.7-2_i386.deb DEBS/printtool_4.03-3_i386.deb > DEBS/libsnmpkit1_0.7-2_i386.deb DEBS/task-gnulpr_1.2_all.deb > DEBS/libtdb-dev_1.0.2-2_i386.deb DEBS/tdbtool_1.0.2-2_i386.deb > DEBS/libtdb0_1.0.2-2_i386.deb > > I have some problems to solve: > > 1) I am struggling to add "gpr" to the above, > but I use Ximian Gnome, and "libgnome-dev" is broken in Ximian. > What is the problem you are having. RedHat wrote Printtool. They have since dropped printtool and so the maintainer may be looking for a new upstream source. We may be the upstream source he is looking for for the time being. However, we are going to drop printtool in the release after the one we are doing in a couple of days. > > I will let you know > > a. > > > > -- > A Mennucc > "È un mondo difficile. We've moved away from most of the hard coded paths and now the only reference to print-filter is this: # first put a link to the master filter into place # catch {exec ln -s "$libexecdir/master-filter" $i_filter} There have been numerous changes since those earlier versions. - Mark Pruett |

Of course, this assumes that $libexecdir is /usr/lib, which defeats the purpose of using a variable anyway. The problem is that master-filter is NOT IN PRINTTOOL'S LIBEXEC DIR. It is in fact in the dir for PRINTFILTERS. On Debian, $libexecdir is renamed to /usr/lib/<packagename>, which breaks this. |
