Interesting take on the updated features in the fork of the original Loki! I’ve also explored some of these updates and found them really useful
I tried to set up a testrender, but everytime i start the queue this error-message pops up, i really dont know what kind of file it tries to find on my desktop haha
If there are new features that you are interested in please let me know. I can't promise anything but will try to add these features into future versions. Here are a list of ones we are thinking about: Add support for additional compressions schemes other than zip (rar, tar, gzip, etc) Job completion status (more details) Support for more picture formats when using the tile functions (EXR format) Not sure if this is going to be in a seperate jar file but I would like to add some sort of pre-flight...
Look up using relative paths for blender: see this page: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/data_system/files/relative_paths.html downlaod the blender slash279 demo file (it uses relative paths) as an example: Here: https://cloud.blender.org/p/gallery/59819ee681191741ad07d283 There is no tutorial because its a new feature, I might get around to it at some point but its a low priority as there is lots of stuff on the web about using relative paths for blender projects.
is there a tutorial online on how to submit zipped jobs to loki render?
Thanks for your help. I'll try that!
Anyway, if i open up the Apartment_10_kuri.blend file, and hit render frame, all textures are present. But not when Loki renders the same frame. If i've already packed textures into a .blend file, how do i unpack them?
I would suggest keeping the assest out of the .blend file if possible and then create a zip file of the project and all its assets using relative paths. Linked blend files was why we created the ability to submit ziped jobs. To unpack a .blend file, open up blender, load the project, then go to file, external data, and select "unpack all into files"
If i've already packed textures into a .blend file, how do i unpack them?
Interesting. Some textures are loading, but not all of them..

it's packed into the KuriOnly_02.blend file. edit: Yes, those two plugins are unimportant.
it's packed into the KuriOnly_02.blend file.
Is this a texture that is packed into the .blend file or a linked one? I would note that two plugins are missing although it does not look like they are needed for rendering and should not be an issue.

Sorry for the massive log. The texture which is failing to load is called PowerOutlet.png. It doesn't seem to be mentioned in the log.

I am talking about the frame render log, not the loki render log. If you right click on the job and select details you will see the job details window, If you then click on a frame in the right hand pane you will see frame render log that should look something like: found bundled python: C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.79\python Read blend: C:\Users\rodney.wild.CSMG.loki\grunt\fileCache\Blender2-splash279\splash279\splash279.blend Info: Read library: 'C:\Users\rodney.wild.CSMG.loki\grunt\fileCache\Blender2-splash279\splash279\lib\props\hairdryer.blend',...
I tried loki-render-R0.7.3.014. I'm getting the same result: textures in the linked asset are missing. I'm seeing the new folder structure, but bizarrely, there is no log file being outputted in this new version. A file called loki.lok.0 appears in the .loki folder, but it's an empty 0kb file.

I'm using loki3.jar, the one posted by jafix I'll upload the log file for you ASAP.
Sorry which one Hafiz, the one that I posted? Can you link the textures instead of packing them and see if that works? Also can you post a copy of the log file that is on the master from the frame that is rendered. Thanx.
Sorry which one Hafiz, the one that I posted? Can you link the textures instead of packing them and see if that works? Thanx.
I'm using the updated Loki Render, output files are coming out fine. Also, libraries and textures are all packed into my .blend file. Everything works as expected, EXCEPT, textures appear to be missing in the rendered output for linked assets. Packing the textures in the linked .blend file doesn't help. So, to be clear, in the master .blend, i've packed textures and libraries. In the linked .blend, i've also packed libraries and textures. The rendered result in Loki shows the linked asset as expected,...

Thank you Rodney, I gave it a test with a large single frame render tiled into 400 tiles. At tile 182 of 400 it created a zero bite png and is displaying a an extra frame under "running", there are 2 grunts and it's displaying running as 3, as though a ghost grunt. In the Job Details it only says Running, but continuing to render later frames. Not sure how to force it to restart that particular tile. I tried restarting, deleting the frame png, but it's stuck. It's a 5 day render and currently on...

As I have mentioned a while back I have a developer working on the code adding some new features and fixing some broken features which we will be contributing back to the community via Github fork. I will post an updated list of stuff that has been fixed and added here and a link to the project with compiled Jars and Source when we have posted it. First we've fixed file transfer to work properly from grunt to master Added multi-file transfer functional, to send all rendered files from grunt to master...

I have the problem fixed, it is forth coming when I release the code and a jar for the additional features I have requested.
I am guessing this might be a heap space issue (this has been a problem with big jobs). Try and increase your heap space and let me know if that fixes the problem.
It would be nice to find out how people are using loki and what type of projets they are doing. We are working on a cartoon for tv and we have used loki (using amazon aws instances) to help out generating frames for our trailer along with a commercial render farm (very expensive). We used loki for two weeks (24 hours a day) to render frames (each frame was a composite of 5 frames). Rod
I have hired a developer and he is working on fixing a number of issues. Allow for multi file transfer from Grunt to Master (in the case where you are compositing the final frame at the end). (fixed) Allow for passing of blender parmiters (that will be passed to each grunt when running a job) when setting up job. (fixed) Allow autorun scripts (fixed) extend support for tiles to image formats other than png (bmp, tiff and jpeg initally) (work in progress) Allow submitting of compressed jobs (.zip,...
What type of frame type are you using, Loki only supports png (from what my developer told me).

I have compiled and if anyone else has this problem then heres the new jar: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1FsX1Q7prNpetqfb_nW19Zf2vAX0sEHEr Uh, oh! It still doesnt work! Patrick where did you go wrong? again? :D

Not me.
Rodney, I've made some modifications to the code to fix this issue and messaged the developer to see if a new jar can be uploaded. If you know more about packing/compiling java code the fix is here: https://pastebin.com/aGKvJrwt for the file CLHelper.java and starts with the comment @ line 95
This issue pops up because Loki stores the log information for each frame in heap space rather than a text file. The more frames you have the more heap space you require. You can increase the heap space and that will solve the problem to some extent but if you are submitting multiple large frame jobs you are going to have issues.
One critical feature that is missing is the ability to pull multiple files from the grunt machine (right now it only pulls back one file which does not work if your blend file creates multiple files for compositing which is common). Missing the ability to run scripts, Missing the ability to upload project files as .zip or other compressed file with multiple .blend files and have the ability to select which .blend files get run by blender with the additional files used as support files (including...
I am currently using Loki .072 with Blender 1.79 and am getting the above problem. There seems to be a resove for this at the following page: https://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?353911-Loki-Render-0-7-0-released!/page9 This issue seems to be quite old but appears to still not be fixed. Can someone look into fixing and re-releasing a new .jar file.

Make sure you have port 80 open on the master. If you are on a windows machine you need to add a firewall rule to open incoming port 80.
It's occurring on the Broker run() main catch() for MasterFrozenException thrown by handleIncomingDelivery() "failed to delivermessage w/ 10 second time out."
I'm specifically trying to find a renderfarm that works with large (multi-GB) blends due to my use of smoke. When running Loki I'm getting a MasterFrozenException but I can't tell where from, even when looking at the raw code. I'm going to add some comments in to see if I can figure out what's causing it, but if anyone else has had this problem and knows a fix, please let me know!
Update: I downloaded the code and added my own fix. I have just emailed the original author Daniel in the hopes of getting his blessing to fork the fix over to github, so everyone can enjoy this still-great piece of software. Hopefully you're still around, Daniel !
I came here looking for this very fix and it seems that patched version is no longer available for download. I have some java experience so I may be able to simply fork it for you until you pull the fix in (big maybe lol). But in the meantime might I suggest it may be more "future proof" to use command line options to render the frame to a temporary file, then transfer that temporary file directly, avoiding Stdout altogether. EDIT: Whoops, thought we were on github. I have no idea how to fork here,...

Using tiles to maximize render time does not work for me. One unit will work fine by itself but this doesn't really save any time over using Blender directly.
