I'm trying using GenLinearHierarchy to generate a tuple-style class and then use Field<n> to access members. I get compile failures on both gcc-3.3 and VSNet-2003 (both of which have improved template handling over earlier versions).
The book indicates that the Field templates should work, while a perusal of the code provides a contrary opinion. That is, the comments in Field and FieldHelper are directed towards GenScatterHierarchy and Tuple with no mention of GenLinearHierarchy.
Also - appropriate typedefs for the Field templates are missing in GenLinearHierarchy (TList, Leftbase, Rightbase).
So - am I correct that GenLinear... and Field<> just don't mix?
Any hope for them? that is, how many hours can I waste attempting to modify GenLinear... before I discover the fundamental problem? (which is?)
Few months ago I fixed some problem related to tuple in which some type appears more than once. You can try the latest version and see if solves your problem. Please send a repro in case that it will not help
