New DEVELOPMENT branch in CVS for Logzer

Logzer is a windows based multi-threaded application that is used to analyze the Apache Combined Log format for a personal website and present the user with the data in an easy to read report.

I have moved the current 0.11alpha codebase and freeze the changes made to those. I am now creating a DEVELOPMENT branch. This will be the most current bleeding edge development. Do not run this version if you are looking for a stable release. All stable releases will be released as executables and the source code released to the public in the file release portion of the project page.

Logzer releases 0.11alpha

Logzer is a windows based multi-threaded PC application that analyzes a apache combined log format web log. It then displays, using a template system, a easy to read report to the user.

I am proud to announce the first release of Logzer in its current alpha state. Currently the engine parses through the log file saves the information into a SQLite database for easy information and statistic retrieva, and then gives the user and easy to read reportl. This current version shows this idea in action.... read more

I am glad to announce the Logzer website is up and running, http://logzer.sourceforge.net. The website contains links to important news, downloads, and screenshots about Logzer, a Windows PC application that analyzes your web page log file.

Another fine HTML template

And another good HTML template was submitted for the actual reporting system of the web log analyzer. This one was submitted by Houcine. I really need to get the project website up to at least host some screenshots. Great job!

With this submission I am closing the need for a web designer. Once the project is out of alpha I may re-open this position.

New HTML report template submitted

We got a new template greated by Tom J. It is very nice and I must say clean cut. If I had the web page for the project ready at this time I would upload a screenshot.

Good work Tom. Now I need to finish the engine so we can see it in action!

Backend moved to SQLite

I have decided to move the backend processing to the SQLite engine. Several reasons, better support, it has been around for awhile. The engine has been tested and supported. There is a lot of people already using this engine.

You can find more information about this engine at http://www.sqlite.org. I may revisit the issue of using the Darkside SQL Mini engine, but it will need to a mature a little and have a more active community around it.... read more

DarkSide SQL Mini used for backend

After much research and deliberation I have decided on using DarkSide SQL Mini written by Vijay Mathew Pandyalakal for the data storage and retrieval system to process web log files.

You can get more information on this open source project over at http://www.codeproject.com/database/dsqlm.asp.

Cursory pre-alpha design document released

Logzer has released the goals and outline the time table and initial design of Logzer. You can find the design document either under docs or you can download the PDF version from our file release system.

The design doc gives you insight on the development of logzer and our goals. Any comments or questions would be appreciated and considered.

Logzer enters pre-planning phase

Logzer, a C++/MFC based application, created to run on the MS Windows platform enters the pre-planning phase.

Logzer was created with the intent of creating an open source web log analyzer. Current plans have the application running on Windows version 9x or higher with a simple to use user interface.

Currently in planning I look to release an alpha version within the next couple of weeks.
