I'm looking at moving from having Logwatch managed by the package manager on my system, to installing from the downloads provided here. Is there a recommended approach to upgrading?

Under the Files tab, you will find the different versions, and different ways of upgrading. For example, for the current version (logwatch-7.5.2) you will find logwatch-7.5.2-1.noarch.rpm. Other distributions package their own, customizing the configuration files for their specific LogFile names (such as https://packages.debian.org/logwatch)
