I know this is an old post, but I still wanted to follow up. In my usage, gmail works well for quickly archiving email (eg my personal email), but Logicmail provides good access to the "up to the second" email updates (my work google apps account) by using IMAP IDLE, and not having to subscribe to the Blackberry's push email service to get similar results.
