What exactly do you mean by "does not open the specific contact's details"?

If the contact has an e-mail address, clicking it should select it.  If 
the contact has multiple e-mail addresses, clicking it should show a 
selection dialog.  (And if the item lacks an address, or is an address 
group, it should show an error dialog.)
