"BlackBerry 6 (and build consolidation)" http://www.logicprobe.org/proj/logicmail/blog/build-consolitation In short, I no longer have separate touch and non-touch builds for 4.7+, and now have a 6.0 build as well. "The march towards a first beta..." http://www.logicprobe.org/proj/logicmail/blog/logicmail20-status-2010-08-07 This one is a bit more of a ramble, but should give you an idea of what I've been up to. In short: - 2.0 is a *lot* more complex than 1.0 was, and there's feature-creep - I hope to reach beta before the end of the year (hopefully sooner, if I have enough free time) - I need to focus on the core features and issues There's one more thing, mentioned within the blog post, but not so explicitly... Performance issues. Specifically, when you select a folder, 3 time-consuming things happen: 1. LogicMail loads cached message entries from your device's filesystem 2. LogicMail loads new message headers from the server 3. LogicMail processes the data, to create new items in the message list All the chaos in builds .200 through .202 had to do with improving the performance of step 2. (and any other network I/O in the app) Fixing step 3 is currently a work in progress, and already more than 3x faster in initial tests on my desktop, but not yet ready to check in. Step 1 will be a little more involved to fix, but I think I know where the bottlenecks are, and it is on my to-do list. -- ---------------------------- Derek Konigsberg dko...@lo... ---------------------------- |
