FYI, certificate settings are part of the BlackBerry OS itself, and something that LogicMail has absolutely no control over. When you get that error, it just means "I tried opening an SSL socket, and got an exception. I tried again, and it still failed." If this is indeed an SSL problem, I recommend looking into all the various configuration options on the BlackBerry itself. Specifically, the "Security Options" section on the Options screen. In there you can configure everything about how it handles certificates and such.
