Anyone have success connecting to 1and1 imap servers? I get no error on connecting, "connecting to server" displays for about 30 seconds, but no folders. If I refresh folders OR status, I get "unknown error". Using logicmail 1.0.4 on pearl flip. |

Pretty sure others have tried. First recommendation would be grabbing the latest 1.1 (maintenance branch) build, and trying that. It does have some additional bug-fixes on top of 1.0.x. I'll take this as another reminder to cut a release from it. (the only lacking thing is updated translations, so I should just put a flag in the build process to disable them) -Derek On Sun, 6 Sep 2009 19:10:22 -0700, johny why <joh...@gm...> wrote: > Anyone have success connecting to 1and1 imap servers? > > I get no error on connecting, "connecting to server" displays for > about 30 seconds, but no folders. I don't have a data plan. I am assuming logicmail connects to imap servers in the same way that gmail for blackberry connects to gmail : OTA. Right? Then that's probably your problem. I have no idea how Gmail can connect without a data plan, but LogicMail can connect one of two ways: - Direct TCP (I think this needs a data plan) - Wi-Fi Of course every carrier may define the term "data plan" differently, and it might still work for you. I'd check the TCP settings on your device (its carrier-specific, but I offer some links on the project website FAQ) just to be sure, before giving up. P.S. "OTA" just means "over-the-air", and doesn't really say anything about the half dozen or so network transports a BB can use: BIS-B, BES, Direct TCP, WAP, WAP2, WiFi, etc. -Derek On Sun, 6 Sep 2009 23:29:08 -0400, johny why wrote: > I don't have a data plan. i guess gmail-blackberry connects the same way operamini and googlesync connect. no wifi needed, and i dont pay for any sort of data plan, i only pay for voice and sms. operamini on my bb can browse the web anyplace, on the freeway etc. how? can logic connect the same way? opera's faq tells me operamini cannot connect without SOME sort of internet connection, so my phone apparently has enough of one for operamini. under operamini 'about', i see "connection type:mds-public", and "proxy url: server4.operamini.com:80" and "deviceside=false". opera uses apn. my apn is epc.TMobile.com. does any of this help? thx On Mon, Sep 7, 2009 at 4:39 AM, Derek Konigsberg <dko...@lo... > wrote: > Then that's probably your problem. That helps a little. I recommend the following: - Make sure the APN settings are configured in the BlackBerry's TCP configuration (in the Advanced section of the device's Options screen) - Make sure the "Use MDS Proxy" option is enabled in the LogicMail configuration screens That should "hopefully" get you something equivalent. -Derek On Monday 07 September 2009 11:54:59 am johny why wrote: > i guess gmail-blackberry connects the same way operamini and googlesync > connect. no wifi needed, and i dont pay for any sort of data plan, i only > pay for voice and sms. operamini on my bb can browse the web anyplace, on > the freeway etc. how? can logic connect the same way? > > opera's faq tells me operamini cannot connect without SOME sort of internet > connection, so my phone apparently has enough of one for operamini. under > operamini 'about', i see "connection type:mds-public", and "proxy url: > server4.operamini.com:80" and "deviceside=false". opera uses apn. my apn is > epc.TMobile.com. does any of this help? > > thx > > > On Mon, Sep 7, 2009 at 4:39 AM, Derek Konigsberg > <dko...@lo... > > > wrote: > > > > Then that's probably your problem. is it true that blackberry's built-in email app can connect to imap servers? i don't see any imap config screen. |

Only if you are using a Blackberry Enterprise server will IMAP work with the built in Blackberry email app. ----------------------------------- Sent from my BlackBerry. -----Original Message----- From: johny why <joh...@gm...> Date: Mon, 7 Sep 2009 09:19:31 To: <log...@li...> Subject: Re: [Logicmail-users] 1and1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial. That's not true. I can configure my Blackberry Storm to connect to a courier-imap server with no issues. Again, there's no folders but I do get push of messages in the inbox. The blackberry storm just figures it out. It's not really very good IMAP support because it doesn't give you access to folders. Basically, it just pulls every message from your inbox onto your blackberry. Actually, its more of a push, but its kinda like that. Basically, you tell your carrier how to login to your e-mail. Then, every 15 minutes*, it checks your inbox and pushes new message to the phone. * Some e-mail services have slightly better integration and the push happens somewhat immediately. -Derek On Monday 07 September 2009 12:29:59 pm George Sexton wrote: > The blackberry storm just figures it out.
