[log4perl-devel] trouble installing Log4Perl

Log4Perl looks really great but I'm having trouble
installing all the things it depends on.

It needs Log::Dispatch
which needs Module::Build
which needs Test::More and Params::Validate
which somehow led me into parrot and ponie

Is there a simpler way?  (hope hope).
