Nice work, Mike. The log4j folks also allow substitution using system
variables (-D arg to the JVM). Did you think about doing variable
substitution for environment variables, our closest equivalent?
If we did that, we could add variable substition to the XML
DOMConfigurator as well--the DTD doesn't have a spot for defining
substition variables so that's the only way to do it on that side.
