Whenever I try to opent the preconfigured Terminal.app from the
Locomotive menu I receive only the requester, which says: "Rails Terminal
Configuration Error - There was an error configuring your terminal. If this
problems persists, please file a bug report." Therefore I do. This is quite
an important feature to me and I would be very grateful if it could be
fixed or if I could receive a hint what to check because some time (and
Locomotive versions) ago it worked well. Thank you in advance.

Do you use bash or (t)csh? Has this changed?

I use bash. Currently I downloaded and set iTerm up to be able to use a
precofnigured terminal during Locomotive based devlopment. Thus it changed
in a way that I found a workaround but it hasn't changed when used in
    conjunction with the Terminal.app

Is clearing the Terminal.app preferences an option? From the
    terminal type:

    defaults delete com.apple.Terminal

I manually removed the com.apple.Terminal.plist (I wanted to keep it because it
contains several custom settings I wanted to retain) but this action didn't help

Hrm. Stumped for now... If you have any brain flashes, let
    me know!

Hm, seems that I need to go through a more thorough debugging session with
it. I'll try to extract the AppleSctipts and params and see what I'll get manually
trying to employ the same mechanisms Locomotive does. Don't know when I
    find the time though...

Hm. Yours is the only report I've had of this particular
problem, so I'm guessing it may be tricky to track down...

What happens if you try to open the Terminal as a different
user on your system? (That is, is it something about your
    user's profile.)

Also, what are your system details? 10.3 or 10.4? intel or ppc?

OK. I partially tracked it down to being connected with /me running PathFinder
as Finder replacement.. It doesn't disturb setting iTerm up but apparently has
influence on Terminal.app being started via Locomotive's AppleScripts

Hi, I'm having the same problem. Locomotive says:

CoreEndianFlipData: error -4940 returned for rsrc type aeut
    (id 0, length 32170, native = no)

    Wha?

Are you also using Path Finder?

Hi raaum, I'm not using PathFinder. Just Locomotive on
    Intel with no special configurations.

    Hi flip,

Does using iTerm make the problem go away? (Not that this
is a great solution, but it's all I've got right now.)

    Hi raaum,

I tried iTerm, too - same error.

I noticed silverdr mentioned some Applescripts I can't seem
to find. Are these somewhere I can use? I really just need
to know what commands you run to load the environment, since
that's about my only option without another Mac at the moment.

    Thanks for everything,
    Flip

    Hi Flip,

Does this problem persist if you log in as a different (preferably vanilla) user?

    Hi raaum,

The problem is consistent on a new user for Terminal or
iTerm. Same error in the command line/console
(CoreEndianFlipData: error -4940 returned for rsrc type aeut
    (id 0, length 32170, native = no)).

The reason I needed to launch the Terminal was so's I could
freeze the rmagick gem into the lib directory. I managed to
do this with a neighboring Mac, so it's definitely not a
    pressing issue anymore.

I haven't heard of anyone else with this problem.

    Thanks for everything,
    Flip

    Hi Flip,

Glad it's not pressing as I don't have any good ideas...

One thing you can do (albeit inconvenient) if you have
installed the locomotive command line tool is to open a
normal terminal, manover to your rails app directory and run

    eval `locomotive bash-environment`

which will load the locomotive environment.

    Best,

    -r

    Hi raaum,

Sounds great. Thanks for the tip (worked perfectly), and
again - as always - thanks for the great software.
