using locknote 1.01 for 1 yr + on w2ksp4, and suddenly when I try to open any locknote file on the box I get "access denied"! I do not even get the opening interface to enter password, just a popup that says access denied. nothing obvious wrong with the box, ie, no other anomlies noted. about the only thing new is I installed f-prot Windows AV 6.0.5.0 and ran a AV scan with that. something obviously corrputed all locknote files, and it is causing me some problems as I relied on locknote thinking it was foolproof and bug free, to the extent that some of locknote encrypted files are not stored anywhere else. any idea what caused that and if / how to fix so I can regain access. I have not seen this bug reported anywhere else, but folks should know that if it can happen to me, it can happen! help appreciated...

*update* WOW, I just downloaded a pristine copy of locknote 1.03 and I get the same "access denied" msg when I try to open it! So I then was able to copy the original 1.01 file with data on it I need to floppy and it open normally on a different w2k box, and I was able to enter the pw and it works fine. so... something on my regular w2k box is blocking access to all locknote files, but the individual locknote files themselves seem not to be corrupted. so assuming that locknote puts something in registry or somewhere when it opens and closes normally??, and that "something" is corrupted on my w2k system and giving me access denied msg when I try to open locknote files. I don't know...??? insight needed to clear this bug on my box or it seems I'm locked_out of locknote. ps other encryption apps seem to be working ok, fwiw.

I'd suspect your f-prot Windows AV 6.0.5.0 sees this as a devious file and is restricting access. Try disabling it and try again
