Hi,

I found an error with the status "superseded" in LUP. It stays permanently and does not update if I remove the newer Update which superseded the older update or if I remove the update form the superseded option when revising the newer update.

How I tested it:

  1. Created Update A, Approved Update A
  2. Created Update B and marked Update A to be superseded by this Update B, Approved Update B
  3. Found an error in Update B, so I revised it, removed the superseded marking of Update A, and then declined Update B
  4. Approved Update A once again.

Now the Status of Update A in LUP is still "Superseded". I even tried to remove Update B, but still now effect. Update A stays superseded and won't changed.

Can you please fix it in next release.

Thanks in advance

I'm going to have to play around with this a bit to be sure, but my initial investigation into this suggests that it might not be possible. It's WSUS, not LUP, that is marking the original package as Superseded. Nothing I've found so far in the WSUS API allows me to edit a superseded package to make it un-superseded. Since this is all but unthinkable for official MS updates I can see why they would make it a one-way ticket. For official MS updates, If update B supersedes update A that's still the case if you remove update B down the road.

Here's a question; in your scenario, did the superseded update continue to be delivered to clients who needed it?

Follow up; what happens if you revise update A?

The update A did not continue to be delivered to clients even when I re-approved,
or even if I was revising and approving update A again, declining, revising and approving update A, etc ... nothing helped.
Only solution at the moment: Remove and re-create the update
If it's not possible due to wsus api to un-supersed an update I remove it or adding a notice that superseded updates can not be un-superseded even if revising, reapproving, etc.

Sorry, in my last sentence the word "suggest" right before "remove it or adding ..." is missing. Without the sentence is not so good to understand I guess ;)
