This is a bit confusing...

Once you've got the LoadSim window open in Muffin, you should click the
"Browse" button next to the Output File: text box.  Select the directory
where you want to the file saved and then give the file a name.  In the
text box you should see the full path of the file. 

Now, if you record/stop you should see the resulting file.  You should
only see the file after you hit the "Stop" button.

I've checked  this and it does, indeed, appear to be a bit flaky.  I
will try and look at the code tomorrow.  If you know much Java you can
also look at the code.  It is the org.openware.loadsim.muffin.LoadSim
class.
