#7 Basic authentication support

Support for basic authentication that works through a
browser challenge is required. The challenge is
usually want causes the browser to bring up the logon
dialogbox. See the http protocol for exact return

Is this where you you get a dialog box popping up asking for
authentication (as opposed to the normal HTML form
authentication)?

The Muffin 'Snoop' filter might be an good way to track down
exactly what happens in these situations.
