Hi The obvious one is, have you got the jack audio connection kit installed & running. Muse (as well as a lot of other Linux audio kit) uses this. It is a brilliant piece of kit that can link up all your audio & midi apps internally. I recommend you use qjackctl which provides a nice GUI for configuring & using jack. Most distro's have packages for both jack & qjackctl.
