Hi I can't figure out how to make muse give me one or two bars ahead of recording. I enabled "precount" in settings -> metronome, but that doesn't do anything. Also "prerecord" and "preroll" are greyed out, so maybe that's a clue to my problem. Slightly related: I don't want to configure a click sound in a midi client, so a beep would be totally fine. By adding a audio output and routing it to a bus in ardour I can get a timbale (or some percussion sound). However it sounds horrible, doesn't cut through the music and isn't sounding during recording. A simple beep (like the one in ardour) would really be great. By experimenting it seems that "click" in the transport and "metronome" are two complete seperate entities, it that correct? So basically: how do I get a simple beep that's beeping 1 bar ahead of recording? -- peace, love & harmony Atte http://www.atte.dk | quintet: http://www.anagrammer.dk | compositions: http://www.atte.dk/compositions |

Yes, the enable box should also be grayed out.=20 Precount was removed when MusE was jack-transport enabled. "Beeping ahead" can only be accomplished by starting the transport early. Y= ou=20 could try using PunchIn to start the recording a bit later. Regards, Robert |

I'm not sure how helpful this is but one this I so is simple start my recording at measure 3 to give myself 8 beats up front. In earlier versions of Muse the precount was not working right- there song position errors related midi clock sync. Also, with jack/muse- not sure who, there is a nasty habit of throwing noise into a recording when it starts to roll. I initially thought that was because of too high a latency but I'm on laptop with a 1.8Ghz AMD Turion x64 dual running at 2.16.19.1-rt15 with 4.35ms latency and I still have that problem. Another thing was that at measure one something was being sent to my sound modules that was switching patches on me even when I turned sysex off on them. I think was was another funky thing 'bout not being able to turn that off in Muse once you set it to something. I'm not sure if that is the case now but I digress- the trick again, is to start recording at measure 3, adjust your loop point if you're using them, position your song pointer at measure one, turn on the click and there you have 8 beats for nothing of 4/4 time up front for you to count off. Also, if I'm reading Atte's email right, the volume of the "audio beep" metronome is too low. That appears to be linked to audio "Out" channel (track) so you have to adjust it there. I prefer the audio beep to midi as well since these days not all drum are mapped the same (Roland... err, GM) way.
