Bugs item #1221430, was opened at 2005-06-15 13:31 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=604222&aid=1221430&group_id=93414 Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Philip Nelson (panmanphil) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: muse crashes itself and gdm on midi import Initial Comment: This has happened to me fairly often and I have references to this on the muse and or agnula lists enough for me to think it's a bug. With a project open, import a midi file choosing replace. *Sometimes* but not always, it will crash muse and take gdm with it, going all the back to the login greeter. This happens with the .71pre1 release running on demudi 1.21 + updates. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=604222&aid=1221430&group_id=93414 |

Since the system crashes all the way back to the login greeter I'd say there's more to it than just MusE. /Mathias ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=604222&aid=1221430&group_id=93414 |

If it's related to the actual midi-import function, is there any specific midi file you know is more crash prone ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2005-06-18 15:45 Message: Logged In: NO I've seen crashes like these occur when using some of the 2.6 lowlatency kernels using jack with small periods (think Robert has experimented with these, I'm still on the 2.4, IIRC it was jack periods up 128, and that 256 were safe). The workaround is to start jack from a script that runs jack with setsid. Most likely this is not really related to midi-import, the import probably causes muse to do more work thus triggering the jack buffer-size problem. I'm opening another bugreport for that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Robert Jonsson (spamatica) Date: 2005-06-23 22:07 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=81832 As Mathias noted it may very well be related to the small buffer-size problem.
