#123 wave track crackles on start/jump

When a part on a wave track is used at the beginning of
a song, the sample crackles (level meter drops to 0)
quite badly for a few seconds when the song begins
playing. This also happens to a lesser degree when
jumping into a wave part from another position. The
problem does not coincide with any xruns.

I am not able to reproduce this.
Could you tell us a little bit about your system.
Is it a complex piece of music or does it happen as soon
as you add a wave track?
What jack buffers do you use?

The only way I can imagine this happening is with high
system load and very small jack buffers.

Btw, what muse version are you trying?

I'm using MusE 0.7.2pre5, but the problem also occurred in
    0.7.2pre4. I haven't used other versions.
My jack command line is jackd -R -t1000 -dalsa -dhw:0
    -r48000 -p256 -n2 -P -S
The wave track starts the song and is the only thing
playing, and the system load is negligible.

This must be a problem with MusE rather than jack, because
even when running jackd with -p4096 -n4 the problem still
occurs, although the pops are less frequent (but still only
happen for a few seconds). Also, I recorded in Ardour the
output of the wave track and a softsynth playing
simultaneously via muse outputs, and only the wave track

The crackling occurs most often after the song has been
playing and I stop it, jump to the beginning, and play it again.

Perhaps it is an issue with MusE's wave file
reading/buffering. If you still can't reproduce it, maybe
you could give me some insight about where to look in the code.

    Sorry for taking so long.
Where you running an SMP system when this happened? If that is the case I'm pretty sure this is the same as bug #1590605.

    SMT (hyperthread), yes.

As a work around for SMP issues (which unfortunately still exist) start MusE with
    taskset -c 1 muse

No longer happens on my system with 1.0 release. I consider it fixed and set it to pending.
