A few days ago I coded rudimentary JACK-support for LMMS as another=20
audio-output-plugins which works quite well when using with high latency.=20
There are only sometimes problems with realtime, so there're XRUNs and so o=
I'm looking forward to improve this in the future but for now JACK-support =
a success I think! Next release will include it.
Another thing is the support for an ALSA-sequencer-client. Currently LMMS o=
accesses MIDI-port via RawMIDI. The worst disadvantage of this is, that you=
cannot connect other apps to LMMS, so you only can play the whole thing wit=
real existing external MIDI-hardware. This is why I'll begin to code for=20
making LMMS an ALSA-seq-client. Then also another sound-generator-plugin wi=
follow which just sends all note-events it gets to an ALSA-seq-output-port =
outputs the sound it gets on an JACK-input-port. This way you can connect a=
JACK-client to the MIDI-seq-outport and connect its audio-out to the=20
plugin-input-port. Such a client for example could be dssi-vst with=20
jack-dssi-host. Then you'll indirectly be able to use VST-plugins with LMMS=
I don't want to make any wrong predictions but if things go alright, all th=
could be done within the next 1-2 months which would be a huge success and=
really push LMMS ahead!
If you have any suggestions, ideas or something like that, feel free to=20
discuss it here! Support with coding or debugging JACK-support is also=20
