hey toby, joris already hopped on irc and talked to pgib about somethings he woudl like to see added to lmms, and he has begun working on it :). also he mentioned he is quite good with jack, so any jack questions could be directed towards him.

Unluckily discussing about GSoC is not superfluous now as the deadline for
submitting a proposal is over. Google announces accepted projects tomorrow..

Independent of that I'm looking forward to see Joris join our team. There are
numerous things which one can do independently of other developers and the
whole development process, such as implementing fully-featured sample-tracks
(ideally with integrated sample editor), automation of VST controls, better
JACK support, vector-based automation, ...
