if you would like i could try and make a push for version 0.4.6 to be in 9.10 but not sure how to go about doing it. toby you think you could point me in the right direction.

if he tries 9.10 all he has to do is enable toby's ppa. and i agree use a bootable live usb. all you need is the iso and unetbootin to make the bootable live usb.

9.10 has only LMMS 0.4.5.  I'm not aware of any live distro that includes
0.4.6 yet.

But there's no reason he couldn't make a USB key of 9.10, boot to it, and
install the 0.4.6 package from the PPA.  That was how I evaluated LMMS
0.4.4 back when I was running Mandriva 2007 or something like that (but
using Ubuntu 8.10 on the USB key).  Probably faster than a CD-based live
distro, as well.
